Participants will participate in a 60-minute high intensity workout, with trainers instructing over microphones, while speakers blast the latest sounds during the last hour of the fundraiser.
THE HEALTHWORKS FOUNDATION
Healthworks Fitness Centers for Women has been operating a non-profit organization for almost 10 years. In January 2002, The Healthworks
Foundation opened ST. MARY'S WOMEN & INFANT CENTER, in Dorchester, Massachusetts. The 3,500 square foot non-profit center is a
fully equipped fitness facility for homeless and low-income women. To date, St. Mary’s has served over 5,000 women and children.
CONTINUING WITH CODMAN SQUARE
February 2008 ground broke ground on The Healthworks Foundation’s second non-profit fitness facility located in Codman Square, Dorchester, Massachusetts. The 9,000 square foot facility will feature a women’s fitness club with state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment, two spin studios as well as yoga and group classes.
In addition to the women’s only fitness center, a revolutionary youth center at Codman Square; approximately 2,500 square feet, will offer solutions to help get youth in Dorchester active, as diseases that are related to childhood obesity are easier to “prevent” than “treat”. A variety of programs will be offered primarily after school and on weekends. The center will feature Interactive Fitness Systems with a purpose to attract participation and sustain interest in several ways such as motivating the brain/body engagement and engaging cognitive and creative decision-making while getting exercise!
To show continued support, 1.25% of all membership dues from all five Healthworks Fitness Centers is donated to the Foundation each year.
